Paul lives and works in Northumberland and is a contemporary painter and printmaker whose work is inspired by a passion for landscape and the natural world.

He has won many awards for his work, including ‘The Bird Illustrator of the Year’98, BBC Wildlife magazine fine art award 2002, and the RSPB fine art award 2004.

Paul first exhibited at the SWLA in 1992 and was elected full member in 2004.

Paul’s mixed media work stems from experiencing nature first hand, distilling the essence of the experience and producing dynamic watercolours in the field which leave an impression of the moment.

Oils, monoprints, woodcuts and charcoal/collage drawings may be developed in the studio but always based on the original experience.  These contemplative studies are about paint, composition and colour as much as about birds, animals and behaviour.
