WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR - a guide for non-members wishing to submit work to the SWLA annual exhibition

The selection committee of the SWLA seeks to encourage all forms of three and two dimensional artwork in any medium* (see below) that is based on or representing the world’s wildlife.  The committee is particularly keen to encourage all artists with fresh visions to submit work to the annual show.

The committee will consider work

  • that evokes the spirit of the natural world

  • which reveals a personal experience or true understanding of the natural world

  • that shows imagination, artistic ability, originality and genuine creativity.

Work which is inadmissible

  • that which has previously been exhibited in London

  • botanical subjects, pets and domestic animals

  •  work in metal frames, poorly framed or badly presented

  • photographic reproductions/mechanical prints* (see below)

The selection committee's decision is final and no correspondence shall be entered into.

If you have not already done so, visiting the annual show will give you a clearer idea of the criteria the selection committee is seeking.

OVERSEAS SUBMISSIONS

Non UK artists can now submit good quality digital images of their work.  The digital submissions will undergo a preliminary selection and successful entries will then be invited to send the artwork to the Mall Galleries in time for the main selection day in August. The selection committee reserves the right to reject work that has been preliminarily accepted if the digital images have given an inaccurate or misleading portrayal of the work or if it is poorly presented (e.g. framing) when viewed at selection.  All shipment costs are the responsibility of the artist. To register click here. Submission fee is £10 per work up to a maximum of 6 works. Deadline for digital submissions July 9th 2010. Once registered the digital images (jpegs only) should be emailed to lucyward@mallgalleries.com STRICTLY FOR OVERSEAS SUBMISSIONS ONLY
